This week has just been amazing. I am helping to make education more tuned to the ocean, I saw dolphins, and I am partnered with my one professor and some other students one her plankton testing projects. She has given me her microscope to hold in my room so that I can examine some water samples. We have many samples, but I have three to examine right now. I have one from the East China Sea, one from the South China Sea, and one from the Andaman Sea. I know there is something in the Andaman Sea sample, because I saw something when we first pulled the sample up. Now I just have to find it again. Also, these samples are going to take forever to examine, because the water bubbles shake with the ship, so we have to make really small bubbles. I am hoping I can examine a lot of it during the nights we are in port when the engines are off. I should be able to look at larger water bubbles at a time. My professor also gave me a lab journal to document my findings with the microscope.

The downside is that, today, our onboard internet is down. This means that I have no connection to any of my professors. It is difficult to communicate on this ship in general, but we have adapted to the limitations of email. When that email is taken away, then things really get rocky. They normally fix it within a day though, so we should be back up and running tonight or tomorrow.

Also, tomorrow we arrive in India! I am super excited for everything I am signed up to do. I did buy a program from someone who was selling one for cheaper than the SAS price. It is called missionaries for charity, and we will be following the ideals of Mother Teresa during this day trip.

More news to come as I make my way through India.
