So our ship is now infested with flying ants. They are everywhere. Mostly outside, thankfully, but still. I managed to avoid mosquito bites only to get bite at sea by ants. They should die off soon, with us being in the middle of the ocean and all. In all actuality, the situation could be worse. They could be spiders instead. I probably wouldn’t leave my cabin if that were the case.
Aside from the bug infestation, today has been a great day so far. There were fried eggs this morning for breakfast, much more appetizing than the scrambled eggs I am pretty sure they make from liquid eggs. The cereal is still an issue. They usually serve raisin bran or frosties (frosted flakes), but they don’t have either of those out, and haven’t for the past few weeks. Instead they are serving all bran, which is the equivalent of rabbit food. So my usually breakfast of eggs, cereal, and yogurt has been minimized to just eggs and yogurt.
Then for lunch, they served Mac n’ Cheese. Certainly not as good as Uncle Craig’s delicious homemade Mac n’ Cheese, but it will suffice.
Slight change of topic. So I like to eat in Lido, on deck 9, because that is where most of my friends eat, especially for dinner. But there is a benefit for eating in Berlin on deck 6. So Rob, the librarian eats in Berlin, and he is one of the best people to have dinner with. We get into such deep conversations and it is so eye opening. Yesterday it was me, rob, josh, Leandra, and this other kid. I see him all the time, but I never learned his name. Anyway, we had dinner last night. Rob started with the question “what is everyone’s impression of poverty in India?” Now all of us, except him, are students. We made our way around the table and covered many topics. Eventually we got to the topic of religion. Josh is a devout Catholic. And with three of us not really knowing anything about Christianity, it was neat to be able to listen to Josh talk about the stories and theories wrapped in his religion. From there we began talking about the paranormal and supernatural. Josh, Leandra, and I are strong believers, but Rob and that other kid were skeptical. So naturally, we tried to sway them. We were talking about different ways to capture evidence of supernatural phenomena, and some paranormal stories that are very popular like the “Zozo demon” and “the woman in white.” They are still skeptical, but it was a fun conversation nonetheless. The conversations are different every time, but never any less amusing.
Sadly, I have to go to class now. Bye!
