Today I went to the Aquila Game reserve. It was a two-hour drive from the ship, and worth every minute of it. When we first arrive, we had lunch. Then we got divided into the cliché safari trucks and were driven around the reserve for another two and a half hours. But this isn’t like the fake ones from back home. The animals are fenced in to some extent, but unlike the ones from back home, the enclosures are massive. You can’t see two sides of the enclosure at any point.

Sometimes, you can’t see the fences at all. And some of the animals are there for a reason. For instance, the lions used to be hand fed by humans and then shot down as prizes. So, since they never learned how to hunt, the reserve workers must feed them manually. They said that sometime the lion will hunt down their own food, which usually consist of springbok, but for the most part, needed to be given food. We saw lions, springboks, jackals, hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and a buffalo. The only thing we didn’t see was the leopard. It was hard to see the lions, because they were staying cool, out of the heat from the sun, in their caves, but we did see them. The rest of the animals were out in the open.

I have no distinct plans for tomorrow, other than doing some stuff for school. There are a few things around the area that I could do. I guess I will just have to see what happens.
