Great Day of Trawling

Today, we went trawling for the second time this session. Last time, we trawled in Queen Sound, which was a shell and mud substrate. Today, we trawled in Tom's Cove which is in the same bay as Queen Sound, but instead has a sandy substrate. Trawling in Tom's Cove was the best trawling I had experienced all summer. There were a few species that were caught in both locations, but at Tom's Cove we caught a massive ray (pictures to be uploaded soon). We also caught a little ray as well. There were other cool things too that will be in the pictures, but this was one of the best. We also caught a Diamond-Backed Terrapin, which was lucky because I had seen one in the harbor and tried to get a picture for the photo field notebook we are keeping. But that one swam away due to the noises on the dock, and so I was only able to get a blurry picture.
Some of the class also saw a shark's dorsal fin nearby, and also some dolphins. I unfortunately did not see it before it went underwater.
When we got back to the lab, we complied our data for the two days of trawling and compared them using the new statistical test that the professor has been teaching us.
