Kayak Mishaps

So I am going to take you through a simulation to how my day went today.
You meet the class at 1:00 pm to go kayaking. You load the kayaks onto the trailer and confirm that they are secure. You also hitch up that trailer to the van, and again confirm it is secure. Then you head out for the kayaking location. The driver stops at a read light, and starts moving when the light turns green. You hear a strange noise, somewhat like something is dragging beneath the van. Then your thoughts are interrupted by the boys in the back yelling "Something is sparking! Its the trailer! Stop the van!" So the professor and driver get out to investigate, and come back to get you because the class has to work as a team to reattach the trailer that disconnected. Everything goes successfully, and you are once again on your way to the kayaking location. Then about 2 minutes later, you hear another noise and the boys in the back shout "WE LOST A KAYAK!!!" So the driver stops, three people hop out of the van and drag it quickly out of the middle of the HIGHWAY. This is all fine and dandy, but now, you must wait for traffic to stop in order to put the kayak back on the trailer. Upon doing so, you notice that ALL the other kayak straps are loose as well, and you, the driver, and the professor tighten all of them. The boys then spent the rest of their ride to the kayak location with their eyes glued to the trailer.
Now you arrive at the kayak location and you think everything I good, you arrived, no more worrying about the trailer. Well, you would be wrong. About halfway through the trip, the boys' kayak starts sinking. So they get out and dump the water out, and assuming weight was a problem, people rearrange in the kayaks to reduce the wait. Well, that was not the solution either because even the new pair in the kayak is still sinking. So three pit-stops were made on the way back to the van to keep draining the kayak so they didn't completely sink.
So that is how our day went. Hope yours went a little smoother. Kayaking again tomorrow, hope we don't sink!
The morning however was a little better. We hard caught a fowler's toad in one of our pitfalls. The toad was large enough that we were able to tag him with a Visible Implant Elastomer (VIE). Otherwise, our Sherman traps didn't really capture anything. Hopefully our remote cameras will.
