I have officially completed the first session of the summer. Next session is Field Methods. In Field Methods, we will be learning how to operate many different pieces of equipment. I have been told by various sources that the professor for field methods does not give any exams. Instead, he has a 50 page paper due at the end. I am kind of excited to not have to study at all this session. Also, he did not assign a book, so that is just icing on the cake. I don't think the paper will be very difficult. From what I was told, we have to explain our pieces of equipment and analyze some data and string it together into a paper.
Many of my friends have left for home. Some will be returning on Sunday for the next session, but others have finished their time here. The campus feels empty already. There are a few of us though, that are staying over the weekend. Luckily, my roommate is like me, and is staying the entire summer, which means I don't have to worry about getting a new roommate.
Check in for the new session is on Sunday. Those of us staying over do not have to re-check in, but we do have to go to the orientation again. This is because we meet our professors during the orientation. We also don't have to go on the campus tour. It isn't that big, so I think we can remember where to go. It will be hard to forget over 2 days.
Until then, I am going to read my book that mom graciously overnighted me. Thank goodness too, because as of now, my only reading material is textbooks. I also thought I was gonna be a lot busier, and so did not pack really anything to entertain myself. Netflix and movies getting boring after a while and the only other means of entertain I brought was a string to play cat's cradle and to make shapes with.
Kelsey, the college coordinator, said she may plan a kayaking trip for tomorrow, so I will see about doing that, too.
Time to relax before next session.
